I thought for my first post, I would first explain what the meaning of “A Thorn Amongst The Roses” is.

You see, I am married to a wonderful wife with 3, soon to be 4, children.  All 4 of my kids are of the female persuasion.  I am the 1 male, surrounded by almost 5 females (and a neutered beagle).  As you may have guessed by now, I am the thorn and my kids & wife are the roses.

A Thorn Amongst The Roses also describes me & my interactions with my family.  Between Steph & I, I like to make things less simple & try to play devils advocate too much…thus, I’m a thorn in her side at times.  With the girls, when they want me to play Barbies, I have this odd habit of either trying to pop their heads off, bury them, or figure out how to melt them by using a magnifying glass on their foreheads.  Thus, I’m a thorn in their side as well.

So, the title has more meanings than one.  So, to really simplify it; I’m the odd man out
